Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950) was an Indian philosopher and political activist. He was arrested and spent time in jail for fighting against British control of India. After that time he moved to Pondicherry to focus on spiritual work. He developed a practice called Integral Yoga which emphasized the evolution of human life into divine life, in a divine body. He believed spiritual realization not only liberated, but transformed, human nature into a divine life.
Integral Yoga has five aspects: spiritual, mental, physical, psychic, and vital. Other aspects include a vegetarian diet, and respect for all people and the earth.
